Narrative: Florence MacDonald (AKA Flo Captain Dan) was the daughter of Captain Dan MacDonald and wife Margaret Tynan. She was born about 1857 in Newfoundland, but settled with her family at 324 Main Street, Antigonish as a young child. During her working life, Flo was a practical nurse for several years. In her declining years, merchant John Bonner looked after Flo's 'business affairs', brought meals as Flo lived a reclusive life. Leo Boots Chisholm recalls her house being surrounded by a picket fence with a large garden and shed to the rear of the house. Mr Chisholm recalls Flo not wishing children to trespass on her property.
