Narrative: C. gates, Son & Co, Limited began in Victoria vale in 1840, moved to gates Avenue in Middleton circa 1900 and continued until about 1949. Last owned by Fairfield Woodbury in the 1940s.
Description: a 10" by 14" white cardboard poster advertising Gates Little Gem Pills for upset liver, dyspepsia, sick headache, constipation, and piles. Excellent for after-dinner distress. Information in center of poster is in black lettering enclosed with a black line border. The word "SOLD" is printed five times along the top, five along the bottom and one on either side of the center black. There are five little Gem Pill Bottles taped over the three sold words down the left side of the poster and over the two sold word in the upper righthand corner. At the bottom of center black is Price 30 cents. Hole at center top to hand poster.
