Narrative: C. Gates, son and Co., Limited began in Victoria Vale in 1840, moved to Gates Avenue in Middleton area 1900 and continued until about 1949. Last owned by Fairfield Woodbury in the 1940's. 
Description: On card stock, blue and white in color, an advertisement for rheumatics. On the top half of the advertisement there is a rectangle outlined in blue and black that has a write up from a customer who was "cured" from rheumatics once he had this product. At the bottom of the card stock it says "Gate's Life of Man Bitter's" in white on a blue background. Under this is a write up about the product, it`s size and it's price. MG100 Vol. 88 #35
History of Use: Old Kings Courthouse Museum deaccessioned these items before passing them along to us. Accession number there was P-988-15-2. Donated to courthouse museum by William K.Ryan, Cambridge Stn.,NS March 1988
